Gone now Arch St rock house searcy ar

710 W Arch, Searcy AR.....a few days ago.

710 W Arch

710 W. Arch as it was yesterday, Jan. 17 2023.  It is being demolished as this picture shows.  It was in terrible condition so it probably had to come down.  The court house gives construction date as 1935.  An interesting thing about this house is that it was an old frame house and someone took the time and spent the money to rock around it.

West Arch house down

Notice the back of the house now, the old wood siding, and the rocks that have been pulled off and piled in the yard.  It is sad to see the old houses come down in Searcy Arkansas.

Barbara S. Duncan the front of the house did not look bad, but the back of the house looks like it was ready to fall down on its own.

After the fire the city did try and have it condemned however to no avail. Due to the roof, floors and bones being solid they could t do it. It was all cosmetic. And any structure is on the north said will be the worst side. Anyways. Just wanted to clear the air this house had great potential. Shame  david dale wasn’t able to see it. This breaks my heart

Nicki, it is always sad to see a historic building go down.  I wish I had a picture of the house without the rock siding.  Do you have one?

It is so bittersweet to see old dilapidated homes demolished.  I always wish they could have been rescued and renovated to their former glory.
