Those of you who have ever built a new home along with those who have given birth will understand exactly what this post is about. My husband and I are currently building what we say is "the last home we will build". Time will tell.
When you decide to go ahead and build that house, the initial emotions are excitement as you determine the land or lot, choose a house plan, go through a myriad of selections, and choose a builder. Everything is fun at this point and expectations are high. This is much like when you first find out a new baby is coming.
Next, comes the middle trimester. The process of dealing with contractors, supply chain issues, scheduling, and so much more. However, you see progress as your home takes shape. In the middle of most pregnancies, is the time when you feel better than you did in the first trimester and you continue to see progress.
As you enter the final trimester of pregnancy, you are now really ready to give birth to that baby! Well, we are now in those final phases of building and we are ready to give birth to this house. We are tired and weary, and the initial excitement has waned.
It is very important if you decide to build a home to make sure you have great representation from an agent who knows the new construction process. Be wary of the builder who tells you not to have your own agent. A trusted and an experienced agent will walk through the process with you and help you navigate the issues that will arise.
Best wishes if you are in the new build process now or are thinking about engaging in the process. Just as with birth, the final event is momentous and worth all of the struggles you experienced. Hang in there!
