Potty Talk Leads to a New Friend
When we just "stay in our lane" and never interact with strangers, we may be missing meeting some great folks.
I know, catchy title, right? Well, today as I was at Lowe's shopping for toilets for a new build, this other woman and I struck up a conversation about, you guessed it - toilets! Dual flush, or traditional? Soft close? Solid piece or two-piece? Chair height or standard. Can you believe there are so many choices when picking out a toilet?
As we discussed the pros and cons of the various models, I learned she was new to the area. The more we talked, the more we had in common. Before long, we were friends on FaceBook and looking to connect.
The moral of this "toilet" story is you never know where and when you might meet a new friend. When we just "stay in our lane" and never interact with strangers, we may be missing meeting some great folks. This was certainly one of those instances.
As we all continue to emerge from the "post-pandemic", don't look at anyone and stay away from people, this is a great reminder that people do need people. We must continue to show joy, radiate goodness, and be approachable. This woman needed to meet someone who knows the area and today, we both found a new friend.
Who knows, Lowe's or Home Depot may be the perfect place to meet new people or even new clients. Often people are there to either remodel, work on a list to get their home ready to put on the market, or, are new in town and gathering items for their new home. No matter the reason, we need to make eye contact, spread seeds of good old-fashioned manners and be kind.
Have a great day and I hope you find a new friend along the way today!
