Each year, we take a break from work and engage in a one-day retreat. I choose a different book each year that we use as a guide for the entire year. It's an opportunity to put the focus on ourselves and to grow as a team.
We close our office, escape to an off-site location and put our heads together in order to renew our souls, refocus, and rewire our thinking. The book we are using this year is, Winning the War in Your Mind, by Craig Groeschel. The message of the book is basically, to rid ourselves of "stinkin thinkin"!
Taking the time to forget about business for a minute is a great way to begin the year with a much-needed reset. I look forward to this event each year. We ended the retreat by taking everyone to a local spa to enjoy pedicures.
Even if you cannot do an entire office team retreat, maybe you can take yourself to a mini-self retreat. Taking the time to take care of yourself is an excellent way to stay in balance. A change of scenery is always a good idea.
