Kathy you are right.  When I stop and think about it, there is a number of people who I see on a regular bases whom I have never asked their name.

I feel the same way at times since I see the same people every day at Mass yet I don't really know them but I am thankful for them being in my life.

It can be interesting to rub elbows with folks, but not really know them.  I have similar experiences at the swimming pool at my club.  I see folks there on a regular basis, and often when I become a little more acquainted I'm often surprised at WHO they really are.

You are absolutely right - I am thankful for the people I don't know also!

Years ago a colleague made this statement: "I don't know strangers. I have friends I don't know." Her comment helped me to embrace a different attitude.

We get so comfortable with people we have known for long periods.  But meeting someone new and discovering who they are is like peeling back an onion one layer at a time.  It is always an exciting venture, and probably why I love sales and my job so much.

Growing up I would talk to every stranger I saw.  My mom has always said of me "she never met a stranger" and I have tried over the past few years to remember to be thankful of people who are kind with my words and not just my thoughts.

Such a sweet, heartfelt post. I love this and we all need to take more time to notice those who cross our paths yet, we haven't met them.
