Dunedin New Zealand On a Down Under Cruise
Earlier this week I was looking for some photos for a friend and stopped to look through the files of our Australia trip 5 years ago. To the day, we were in port at Dunedin New Zealand
Walking in the downtown historic district the feature was the old train station, which had been sold to the town a few years back by the railroad company for a sum of $1.00.
It was an active tourist stop and the gardens were meticulously manicured. It made for some grand photo opportunities.
The architecture was so ornate and so well preserved as though it had been built just a few short years back and not when officially opened in 1906. At the time it handled over 100 trains a day.
The style of architecture was Flemish renaissance. Not to be overlooked, the main hall was equally as pristine with a polished mosaic floor of over 750,000 Minton tiles.
Even the platform had been maintained and looked to be so attractive so many years later.
A memorable stop on a memorable trip.
