Did We Ever Have Company Yesterday

We didn't expect them so it's a good thing they ate like birds. Well they were birds so that worked out well.

At least a couple of them used the doormat.

We have had always had a lot of birds around because I keep the bird feeders full during December, January, and February. What's new this year is they have decided to take shelter right in front of our front door. Honestly, I have no clue as to why.

Those look like the bird prints of quite a few hungry birds. They even came into your garage in search of more

Our daughter has a mama bird that nests on her porch over the light in winter to stay warm.  She gave up trying to relocate her and just puts down a bit of cardboard to catch the poop on the porch. And she leaves the light on all night on cold nights to help keep her warm.

Good afternoon Bob,

Wow!! You really had a big tribe of birds decend on your property. Their bird prints are everywhere! They must have been extra cold to take shelter in front of your front door. The wartmth must have attracted them.

Last summer I began noticing a significant decline in the number of birds in my neighborhood.  I don't know what to contribute that to.  However, a few days ago, while swimming backstroke at my health club pool, I noticed many flights of birds flying overhead.  It was as if they all decided to come back to our community, after fleeing from the horrendous storms that began near the first of the year.

It had been windy Lise Howe and I did not think of that. This is under a carport and in the most sheltered area from that wind.

Those squirrels are very crafty Will Hamm and I am always looking for ways to out smart them. What has worked the best for me is placing the feeders on long shepherd hooks and then about a foot down from the feeder I have this anti- squirrel cone that keeps them from climbing any further.

Thank you Ray Henson . I really enjoy the birds every season and although we mostly see sparrows in the winter it sure beats no birds at all.

We have a robin like that Don Baker . We hang our bikes upside down under the carport for the winter and that robin thinks the upside down seat of any one of them is an invitation to nest there. 🙃

Up through Thursday and even Friday afternoon we were in the 20's but last night the bottom dropped out and today was a sub-zero Dorie Dillard Austin TX . No that being said there was no wind today so it didn't feel all that bad.

No birds around my house, Bob. My dog is a hunting breed and I also have a cat... I think those birds know it and stay away!

Endre Barath, Jr. was your friend influenced by Alfred Hitchcock's movie, The Birds? I remember the first time I saw it I was looking over my shoulder for quite a while. 😯

They were cute Kat Palmiotti . My wife saw them when she came home from work and was careful not to disturb them so I could get a good picture. They were hiding from mother nature who was breathing out a 30mph wind or better at them.

That makes perfect sense Nina Hollander, Broker . I remember one time when Tina was about 10 years old and was nursing a baby who fell out of the nest. It got away from her and went through the chain link fence. The neighbors bird dog caught it and ate it faster then Tina could get over the fence. She was so mad at that dog. BTW Tina is home in Milwaukee as of yesterday. Now she has a few days of debriefing and will be coming to Minot by the end of the week.

It sounds like Max had/has Maximum speed Nina Hollander, Broker 😄.

I can hardly wait to go get Tina at the train station. Last time I wore a top hat and carried a sign (like they do at airports) that said Ms. TNT (short for Tina Natalie Timm).

Bob "RealMan" Timm ha-ha, Bob. Max never displayed that level of speed again!

Bob "RealMan" Timm I'm sure you are chomping at the bit to get Tina home. I remember an occasion when there was a dead bird on my patio. It was a home with glass windows/doors all around and probably flew into one of the panes. When I opened the door to pick it up, my dog Max flew out the door faster than I'd ever seen him move. He got to that bird and ate it so fast I could just stand there.

Thank goodness these footprints were made by little sparrows George Souto and not those big crows Alfred used.
