What We Do Is Noble

The Delaware Association of REALTORS® held our installation of officers luncheon this past week. We were honored to have NAR’s 2023 First Vice President, Kevin Sears in attendance, and to hear his remarks. I was impressed with the love he has for our industry and struck by a few comments he made in particular.

He spoke about us being part of the brand. Not like cattle that just wander in a herd, but we belong together and are proud of the R that we wear. There is meaning to that R; it carries responsibility and conveys integrity. I guess you could say, “We R Part of the Brand.”

He also reminded us to know our value. It’s great to review that, to write it down, to remind yourself of that, both for the rough days, and for the times you need to convey that to new clients.

And he told us that what we do is noble.

That makes you pause, doesn’t it? Noble? Strong word there. When I think of noble, I think of a person of rank or being born into prestige, but what Kevin was pointing toward was our aspirations, our moral principles, and our ideals. Because we, as REALTORS®, are held to our Code of Ethics, that aligns us with pursuing a noble cause. What we do IS noble.

I believe that in reminding ourselves of that, should we ever encounter something that might attempt to drag us off course, a reminder of that noble pursuit will bring us back into the fold, into the bRand.

Thanks, Kevin Sears, and thanks to all of you with whom I collectively do this noble work of being a REALTOR®.

What a refreshing post, had no idea the new NAR President has such great message. Over the years I found that NAR cared less about the membership or this type of message... good to know there is hope. Now they just need to weed out those who do not believe in this concept, Endre
