RIP My Geno

It’s been 40 months (3 years and 4 months) today, since my Geno slipped away. This past week there have been several reminders how fleeting life can be.

Grant Schneider left this earth, his family and friends as well as some local, Austin family members. Those left behind are dealing with grief from some unexpected deaths of their loved ones. I feel their pain.

This photo is from one of many trips we took to Italy. Our favorite restaurant is Restorante Sibilla since 1720, outside of Rome in Tivoli.

Hi Dorie, 

Remembering Geno during the good times as you have done with this pic only makes him closer to you.  Sometimes we never know how important a photo can be.  I am so glad you have this wonderful reminder.  That top picture is also very precious. The puppy which appears to be a cocker spaniel makes it even more precious.

The top picture is my two oldest granddaughters who were very close to Gene. That is their King Charles Cavalier dog named Bella! We all go, visit, talk and laugh with him like he wanted us to!

Oh, Dorie, I cannot even begin to imagine what you've gone through the last few years. Your wonderful family are so dedicated to you and I love how caring they are. What an adorable picture of your granddaughters (& puppy)!

As you said, life is so short and we really never know when we will be called and our time here is done. Like you, Grant's death really hit home as it was the 5th friend or family I had lost in a 30-day period. I'm like Brian England - what is going on?

Beautiful picture of you and Geno - you two were a beautiful couple and the depth of your love shows in every photo you share and everything you say about him. You were so blessed to have the soul mate of a lifetime, Dorie.

My Geno was my soul mate and I had so many wonderful memories. We all miss him but always toast him at holidays. His birthday is coming up and we have a tradition of having lunch at his favorite place where he ate lunch everyday for over 20 years!

One of Geno's best friends owned a Houston Restaurant and his friend was able to change the name to Bartlett's (I still to this day keep remembering it as Houston's). Geno ate lunch there everyday with the regulars and often ate with his friend. He would often met son or daughter there and  even had a special table. They are both gone now which is hard to believe, but every year we go, celebrate and usually order one of of his favorite items!
