San Antonio Zoo Valentine's Day Fundraiser
Cry me a Cockroach
I am often inspired to write my blog by something I have read in the news or a post I've seen on social media. Today is not unlike others, but this one really made me laugh.
The San Antonio Zoo will let you name a cockroach after an ex and feed it to an animal. The annual "Cry Me a Cockroach" fundraiser will support the zoo's vision of securing a future for wildlife in Texas and around the world.
For $10 the zoo will name a cockroach after your not-so-special ex someone and feed it to an animal. Some might say this is a cold and cruel way to tell someone that you are no longer interested. If you're not into bugs, you can choose a vegetable for $5 or a rodent for $25 instead.
All donors will receive a digital Valentine's Day Card showing their support for the zoo and they can also opt to send their ex a digital Valentine's Day Card informing them that a cockroach, rodent, or veggie was named after them and fed to an animal. For an especially nasty ex, you can pay for a $150 upgrade, which includes a personalized video message to the recipient showing their cockroach, rodent, or vegetable being devoured by an animal.
Last year this annual event had a new record, they received 8000 donations from all 50 states and over 30 different countries. They said this year it looks like they will break that record.
To take part you will need to submit your ex's name online before Valentine's Day.
