What Should You Expect From A Real Estate Agent When Selling A Home?

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Realty Group

Whether you are selling your home or purchasing a home, you will need the help of a qualified real estate agent.

This article will provide you with the information you need to know about what to expect from your real estate agent when selling a home.

What Should You Expect From A Real Estate Agent When Selling A Home?

1) Top Notch Marketing

When listing your home with a real estate agent, you should expect to receive top notch real estate marketing from them.

This means that your home will be marketed in a way that is relevant to the area you are selling in, and will be placed in front of potential buyers who meet your criteria.

Real estate agents should provide exposure for your home through online listings and targeted marketing campaigns.

With the right Realtor, you can get the best return on your investment when selling your home.

2) Honesty

When selling a home, it is important to work with a real estate agent who is honest and reliable. Honesty should be the cornerstone of any successful real estate transaction.

Be sure to choose a real estate agent who is upfront and honest about their fees and commissions, as well as any potential risks associated with the sale of your home. They should also be open and transparent when it comes to answering questions and providing advice.

A good agent will be honest about market conditions, as well as any necessary repairs that could make your home more attractive to potential buyers.

Ultimately, an honest real estate agent will provide you with the best chance of selling your home quickly and for the highest price possible.

3) Preparation

It is important to be prepared for the home sale process!

Your agent will help you understand what to expect and will guide you through the process of preparing your home for sale. They will help you evaluate your home’s condition, review comparable sales in the area, and know how to determine a fair listing price.

Additionally, they can provide advice on staging and presentation of your home to potential buyers.

Your real estate agents expertise in the local market will ensure that you are well-prepared for a successful sale.

4) Organization

Having an organized agent when selling a home is vital.

Your real estate agent should be able to ensure all documents are in order from the listing paperwork all the way until the closing is finalized!

Additionally, it's important that your real estate agent is able to coordinate showings for potential buyers, so organization is an extremely important thing to look for in a listing agent.

5) Negotiation Skills

It's also important to have a agent with strong negotiation skills, especially if your local real estate market is highly competitive.  Real estate bidding wars are extremely common in many markets currently.

Negotiating on the price of the property and other details of the sale can be a complex process that requires experience and skill.

Your agent should be able to skillfully negotiate on your behalf, helping you get the best deal possible and ensuring that you are satisfied with the sale.

6) Strong Communication

When choosing a real estate agent to help you sell your home, strong communication should be top priority.

A great agent will keep you informed throughout the entire process, from marketing your home and showing it to potential buyers to negotiating offers and closing the sale.

They should be available to answer any questions or concerns you may have, as well as provide helpful advice along the way.

It's important to make sure that your agent understands your needs and is willing to work hard for you in order to get your home sold quickly and for a great price.

7) Proven Results

A great real estate agent should be able to provide a successful track record of selling homes in your area. They should be knowledgeable about the local market and be able to provide you with accurate information on home values and other helpful insights.

Working with an agent who has a proven track record can give you the assurance that you are working with someone who knows what they are doing.

Final Thoughts

When selecting a real estate agent to help you in the sale of your home, it is important to consider their experience in the industry, their marketing strategies, and their ability to negotiate, among other the other things listed above!

Ultimately, a great agent should be able to guide you through the entire process, from start to finish, so that you can get the best return on your investment.

Whether it's providing access to multiple listing services or offering sound advice on pricing, a great agent should be able to provide you with the assistance you need to make sure that your sale goes as smoothly as possible.

Excellent post.  All too often, agents don't explain what they do or how they do it.  No wonder we're at the bottom rung of a list of professions for trust!

Under Marketing I would add:  PROFESSIONAL PHOTOS OF YOUR HOME!  Sellers should look at their listing agents' previous listings, read the copy, look at the photos and materials. How much effort do they put into pre marketing? Too many crappy photos on listings!

Agreed 100% Mary Hutchison, SRES, ABR !  Way too many listings have poor photos which can cost a seller thousands!
