Homemade Pasta Anyone?

We are in a lockdown ice situation here in North Texas. What's a girl gonna do when she has time to kill? Well, why not try out that new pasta machine your husband gave you for Christmas? Why not?

I gathered my ingredients, prepared my area, and made my plan. First, I needed to research several homemade pasta recipes. And as you can imagine, there are plenty to be found. I found a site that I really like called Love & Lemons. The site has great visuals and videos.

I have always loved fresh pasta so I am finally taking the plunge to give it a try. There is nothing like good, fresh food in any form and I am looking forward to this attempt. This should be interesting.

I am currently in the "resting the dough" phase. I will chronicle the next phase and final product. Keeping my fingers crossed for some yummy, fresh pasta! Viva la Pasta!

That is at least 1 thing to do when you can't get out. My wife used to make her own pasts, but now it's much easier to go out and no one has to clean

I get it, Ed Silva but, in our little town, we have to make our way into Fort Worth to find some good, authentic fresh Italian food.

Oh, Yes, Please.  Home-made pasta with a homemade sauce ... what is not to like about that?  It will turn out perfectly.  How could it not with you behind the dough?

Do you deliver? 😉

My dad and I made pasta for the first time last year.  He pulled out his pasta maker and opened the box he bought it in for the first time.  It was over 10 years old!

It ended up being fun to make and it was very good.  It sounds like you had a good experience making yours too.  Congratulations!

Hey, Ray Henson - I didn't wait 10 years - only over a month. It really was so much fun.

I agree.  It is fun to make.  I need to get my dad to get his machine out once again.

Hi Paul,

I love home made pasta and we made it in a small cooking class in Florence Italy. Loved it!! I just got my power back after 24 hours with none from our ice storm.....I would have loved to have been able to cook something! Anything!

There are few things as wonderful as homemade pasta.  I have a pasta machine like the one pictured.  I must admit I've only used it once.  Shame on me.

OH my gosh, what a fun idea, Paula! One of my BFFs is Italian and she makes homemade pasta that is out of this world. Since we've dined with them over the years, I've wished for a pasta maker! Kudos to your hubby for giving you something to do during the Ice Lockout. Can't wait to see the results...
