February 4, 2011 vs February 4, 2023 - times have changed

Below is my post for February 4, 2011:

It is Saturday morning and all is well in Southwest Florida. While the rest of the country is experiencing cold weather and large amounts of snow, some both, Florida is enjoyng a stint of the best weather in the last few months. This time of year is considered our "snowbird season." It is a time when our neighbors from the north come and spend the winter with us. This year we are off to a slow start since the weather to the north of us is hampering the travel plans of many "snowbirds." We are settled into the new year and life is moving along. Time for a reflective affirmation of the day: "Commit to focus only on those things you can truly influence for just 90 days." Enjoy the day!

What has changed? Well for one, I am now a northern neighbor to Florida living in downtown Chicago experiencing the cold weather and luckily not large amounts of snow. And yes, I do have plans for a Florida trip in March. I am now a "snowbird". Oh, the times have changed. The things you do for family!

As for the affirmation, it still has merit. Enjoy your day.

Hi Wayne- I'm laughing at your post because it reminded me of my neighbor and friend in FL. She used to complain about all of the snowbirds and how bad the traffic was until I reminder her that she and her husband left FL on Memorial Day weekend for their other home in NJ and did not return to FL until October!!!

Hi Wayne Martin 🌴🌝!   Almost 3:00 AM here in Central Orlando, Florida.  Loved your post -  put a big smile on my face, - took a wonderful walk down Memory Lane, went to YouTube and played Bob Dylan and 'The Times They Are A Changing'....  And during that walk I did think about life. For instance:  you moved from Florida to Chicago and I moved from Chicago to Florida. Still, we can discuss even 'weather and times gone by.  Have a just wonderful life in the Chicago we both love and I will do the same in our Florida ----- places we now make new memories and where wonderful memories we've  stored

Being a snowbird is not a bad thing at all.  If I lived in a cold-weather state I would definitely want to fly away when it started snowing, haha.

It's funny that many east coasters make Florida their destination for snowy months and many west coasters make Arizona/Texas/Utah their destination...  I'm not sure where I'd go if I were to become a snowbird!

We dodged the bad weather here in Minot ND Wayne Martin as it was a great weekend with temps in the 30's and 40's. The melting has been wonderful.

It is funny how life works out and changes over time.  It looks like you can enjoy life wherever you make your home. I bet a trip to Florida is looking very inviting right about now.
