The Snow Moon is scheduled in the sky on February 5th. Finally, it appears winter is over and spring is on its way. People in Flower Mound enjoyed 60-degree temperatures Saturday night. I must say it felt too warm wearing a sweater! In this photo I took going home last night the moon was nearly full. One side of the street was dry, and some neighborhood streets had a sheen of black ice. From a local perspective it was a sleepy town by 7 PM. Where were all the people?
Here at the Riverwalk a handful of people were walking their dogs' wearing shorts. The midnight blue sky looked gorgeous along the river.
Turning away from the moon in the sky and looking at the clock the sky changes to a lighter hue. Lights around a water view makes a difference. Midnight blue or light hue, it was still a warm and peaceful night in Flower Mound. My first shot looking directly at the moon was the prettiest blue for me. I prefer the pretty midnight blue, how about you?
Traffic was heaviest in Southlake on the streets and in the parking lots at Central Market and Trader's Joe. They were as crowded as you would expect on the night before Thanksgiving with shoppers filling up their carts to the max. Central Market was adequately stocked but at Trader Joes most shelves were empty. I noticed eggs were a lot cheaper at Trader Joes for $2.99 for a package of 4 eggs. Brown eggs were more. Because people weren't driving Monday through most of Friday night, Saturday brought out the cars and people were grocery shopping! In Southlake and Grapevine, driving was crazy! The quantity of cars was ridiculous!
The Farmer's Market in Grapevine had a small turnout which was good enough for me. I prefer fresh fruit and vegetables over meat which I gave up in 1986 and stuck to that elimination ever since. Except of course, occasionally I still have chicken breast. I just don't know what I would do without the Farmer's Market! Vegetable soup is on my agenda. Yummy! What's your favorite? Fruit? Veggies? Or Meat?
Well, here it is Sunday morning. I plan to have a bowl of fresh grapefruit, one each of white and pink and a couple of oranges mixed together. I had a co-worker and friend (about my mom's age) in Maine who owned property in both Florida and Maine. When I visited her during her winter months in Florida, we would walk outside her back door and pick fresh grapefruit and oranges and mix them up for breakfast. I just love that combination but no stores anywhere compare to when the fruit is picked right off the trees!
May you enjoy the full Snow Moon this evening, eat well, exercise and have an interesting and fun day!
