What I love about living in Maine.

This blog post is a round up bullet list of what makes Maine the way life should be.

maine outdoor lakes

Space in Maine.

Wide open, undisturbed natural space surrounds you in Maine. Less people, more wildlife and four seasons state of Maine beauty. Maine is drop dead gorgeous, big and beautiful.

Friendly, helpful people in Maine.

Maine is simple living and the folks you bump into are friendly. use common sense, are hard working.

Locals know how lucky they are to live here full time in "Vacationland", the Pine Tree State. Reaching out to make you feel warm and welcome in Maine.

Breakdown on the road or trail and need help. Just watch what happens in a small Maine town. Locals do care, pitch in and get you squared away in no time.

Maine, a handful of cities, over 450 small towns.

Maine where you don't carry a taser, avoid certain neighborhoods or constantly watch security cameras.

maine horse shows

Is it like small town Maine where you live now?

People let you go in traffic, wave, smile and hold doors open, are pleasant!

They check in on you if sick and bring over all kinds of home made baked goods. Take over mowing your lawn, shoveling your walk and look after you as a group.

Without being asked and lots of time where the person on the receiving end has so many helpers who did what is not really known.

farm to table farm food

No cost, low cost fun in Maine.

Greater awareness if you push deeper up into Maine away from the expensive coastal tourist traps.

If you turn down the city sounds of crowded out of state urban living. When you replace it with no traffic, the 4th lowest crime state statistic Maine.

The wind in the trees, lake loons singing, water on shore lapping of a Maine lake, river or ocean setting.

maine river canoing

You can hear yourself think as you unplug and recharge in Maine.

The food is farm to table, the what you eat is locally sourced and close to your small town Maine home map location.

Whew, you made it to Maine.

Well now, everything around you and inside you changes. You feel grateful, hopeful, happy and content. In-synch and not out of tune. Trusting, more outgoing and less cranky.

Genuine happy inside and lasting in Maine.

Not store bought and temporary or artificial. In small Maine towns, it is more hands on and everyone is intimately connected. Slow cooked and not fast food approach to savoring the Maine moment.

The gorgeous surroundings are the foundation to build a rich rewarding life on in Maine. But you don't just observe, you participate. It's all hands on deck. Pitch in, help out, make a difference. Take care of others like they do you in small town Maine.

Bring a can do spirit, positive attitude and work ethic traveling to Maine for a relocation move.

Joining up and pouring in lots of heart and soul to any endeavor creates a source of inner pride. The joy makes all of us realize anything is possible with hard work and determination. And not stinkin' thinking is not the ticket to ride that train.

Are you ready to get onboard, so so mentally ready for a visit to Maine?

She tugs on your heart strings and never let's go in a good way.

small town maine families

Collectively, small town Maine living means working local community events, not just attending them.

When you sign up to participate, it's for life. You and I are the community in Maine. Each with unique abilities and talents and working on our shortcomings daily to make the small town experience what it is for others.

Simple Maine living is the treasure.

Due to the circles we travel in small Maine town are tighter, because most of us  work together daily in our jobs and community service projects. That's how you really get to know each other and me, myself and I.

Kids are entertainment and investment in the future in Maine.

When you live in Maine full time, the entire village has a hand in raising and shaping all the youngsters. One more thing I love about living in Maine.

Coaching a sports team, putting together a fund raising dinner, attending a play in small town Maine.

Everyone who lives in a small Maine town is closer, gets to know the individuals of all ages. Sometimes you are related and family gatherings are a very common. Everything is close by and the insulation, not isolation keeps it protected from urban concrete jungle sprawl.

Part of the attraction to Maine is the natural unspoiled beauty.

A big component is the down to Earth spirit of the folks who choose to live here in "Vacationland". But I think it's more than that.

You are needed in your small Maine town.

Everyone is and the folks who live where they do put the township, plantation or unorganized territory square on the simple living in Maine map.

Four seasons, ever changing adapting to weather, being prepared for anything ahead another thing I love about Maine

Not just my home town, not just my county. But Maine.

Maine alphabet

Nothing is taken for granted and the growing up working on farms, fishing, lumbering in the vast forests. Kids learn to work too and the value of a dollar they earn is priceless training for the life curves, dips and bumps ahead.

Being more self sufficient, independent skill discovery experiences all enrich a person's life.

What is learned passed on to younger family members helps everyone in the Maine community. The littlest family member has just an important role and daily duties pulling their own weight and taking on more and more responsibility.

maine small town homes

Living in Maine can transform your life.

If you are willing to listen, learn, apply. Look how what folks who flock and revisit Maine have to say about their vacations here.

Just a long weekend on the coast of Maine or one full week's vacation at a hiking, biking, hitting the recreation trails. Or checked into a downhill ski lodge or kayaking, fishing, boating a Maine lake experience.

Nothing compares to the Maine experience no matter what your age.

Come for a day, end up staying a lifetime in Maine.

Many do. And remember these important Maine blog post take aways. You are needed in your small Maine town. The happiest people in one are the most involved.

Everyone who lives where they do put the township, plantation or unorganized territory square on the Maine map.

Maine is such a huge under populated state with many facets that it takes a lifetime to sample ME.

More wildlife than people. Cleaner air, brighter stars, crystal clear water. When you live here full time, it's help yourself. Take getaway trips close to home. Lots of simple living in Maine experiences gleaned daily. Why I live in Maine? This is my blog post on what I love about living in Maine.

Andrew you've outdone yourself in presenting Maine in a 'magazine-style' post!  Love it!  I spent time in Maine as a kid and it was so pretty during the summer time. Here in AZ we have a state magazine (Arizona Highways) and if Maine has one like this - that's where this post should be - up front and center!

Tucson is beautiful as is the Phoenix area. I agree  about taking photos Andrew and we all learned this very well in the early years of AR and beyond.  For years I kept my camera locked and loaded and took a lot of area photos and used them often in marketing. Plus I simply love taking photos.  Took a fun one this morning of our little Norman who always finds a sun spot in the morning for his morning nap!  Will share later!  He's such  cutie.

Space, Unspoiled space and a little hike up the pike Kat Palmiotti ! That protects us... not a suburb of Boston or a population center. We give our local land to the next person, our kids, whoever is as good or better shape then we were lucky to receive it too. Good stewardship and protect the local wildlife, the natural resources is what Maine is all about... taught at an early age. Passed on. Hi, Andrew.

Maine's sublime ambiance sets it apart as an incomparable paradise of nature. With its magnificent foliage and awe-inspiring scenery, the State exudes strength and tranquility that embraces you with a sense of warmth.

Feelings like love can be sensed in the clean, crisp air here -it is energy for one's soul to bask in! Thank you for this post!!😍

Andrew Mooers | 207.532.6573

Thank you Aura Alex . When you have hiked up Abol Trail thru the table land with your kids and hit the summit of  MT Katahdin. Looking out no one talks.

Humbling, invigorating, contentment, full of joy. That what swallows you up. One event of many when you are lucky enough to live in Maine.

Lighthouses in Maine hit you in a slightly different way.. what was it like being a lighthouse keeper during a storm, working hard to avoid ship wrecks and loss of life?

Some of the 65+ Maine lighthouses you sea kayak to easily. Others you need a lobster or ferry boat to get close for image/video capture. Many you can drive to an old fort where they are parked along the rock bound craggy Maine coast.
