Monday Motivation: Always Find A Reason To Laugh!

I'm a big believer in laughing. As Charlie Chaplin famously said: "A day without laughing is a day wasted."

There's a reason they say laughter is the best medicine. Did you know laughing triggers the release of endorphins, which are the body's natural "feel-good" chemicals (who needs drugs when you can laugh instead)? Endorphins promote an overall sense of well-being and can also temporarily relieve pain. Laughter protects the heart. Since February is American Heart Month, when the American Heart Association promotes cardiovascular health, why not help your heart and find a reason to laugh every day? Heart disease is the #1 killer of Americans... why not help reduce this statistic by laughing more? 

Heart health aside, have you ever had a good laugh not felt better afterwards? I know I haven't. I agree with William James who said: “We don’t laugh because we’re happy – we’re happy because we laugh.” 

I also agree with Milton Berle who said: "Laughter is an instant vacation." 

As real estate professionals we are in the "people" business, always making connections. Victor Borge said it well: "Laughter is the shortest distance between two people." I know my best client relationships are with those clients with whom I'm always laughing.

And as business people, Andrew Carnegie's quote on laughter should also remind us why we should keep laughing: "There is little success where there is little laughter."

Even the Bible says we should laugh. In James 1:17 we read: "God is the Creator of all things. This means that He made laughter. Laughter is good and every good and perfect gift comes from God."
