Is ActiveRain a blogging site? Yes.
Is ActiveRain a social network? Yes.
Is ActiveRain a place to create a valuable referral network? Yes.
Is ActiveRain a place to gain knowledge about the latest happenings in real estate? Yes.
Is ActiveRain a place that can increase your business? Yes.
Is ActiveRain a place to keep your finger on the pulse of real estate markets across the country? Yes.
Is ActiveRain a place to make friends that feel your pain from things that happen in real estate? Yes.
Is ActiveRain a place you can have a virtual watercooler? If you've visited the Q&A section you know the answer.
I could go on with this list, but the bottom line is the answer to every one of these questions could also be NO, because the person responsible for putting the YES in all those questions is the same one that looks back at you from the mirror.
ActiveRain is an ala carte experience.
You can decide to blog, or not.
Comment, or not.
Interact, or post and run, it's all up to you.
Despite the fact that there's not a daily management presence in the Rain, the culture that makes ActiveRain a special place continues.
For me, there's no comparison between the way this community maintains itself and the way some Facebook groups feature the brawl of the moment. For the most part people that find this community and want to engage in online fisticuffs will soon find themselves on their own. When you know who the trolls are, they're easily avoided, and eventually they either get with the program or find their way to other pastures.
The culture here is about helping each other. Ideas are freely shared that you might flinch at sharing with your local competition.
Got a question? Just ask and someone (or a bunch of someones) will probably have a great answer for you.
But again, it's always up to you. Whether ActiveRain is "just" a blogging site, or something much, much more is solely up to you.
Until next Tuesday, just Ask An Ambassador if you need help,
Bill & Liz aka BLiz
