GOOD NEWS IF YOU'RE HOSTING A SUPER BOWL PARTY!
SUPER BOWL SNACKS COULD COST LESS THIS YEAR!
Millions of Americans will be hosting a Super Bowl party this Sunday. In fact, it's estimated that some 103.5 million people will host or attend a Super Bowl party and that the average number of people attending a party will be 14. Spending on food, drink, decorations, apparel, etc. is expected to top $16.5 Billion this year.
If you're hosting a Super Bowl party, the good news, according to a Wells Fargo report, is that some staple snacks could cost less this year than last, despite continuing food inflation. What's on the menu according to Wells Fargo?
-
Chicken Wings. No doubt chicken wings are a staple of Super Bowl celebrations. Last year, the USDA weekly retail price report showed whole chicken wings at $3.38 per pound for the week of Super Bowl. The January 6 price had whole chicken wings at $2.65 per pound. Chicken wings might not be cheap this year, but they will cost you less. And with projections that 1.45 billion chicken wings will be consumed this Super Bowl weekend, that's a lot of savings!
-
Avocados. Some 139.4 million avocados will be purchased for this year's Super Bowl snacks. This year, avocados are about 20% less expensive than they were one year ago.
- Beef. The cost of beef is down about $1/pound year-over-year. So hamburgers and chili are more affordable options for Super Bowl LVII, as are bacon toppings.
