Happy Valentines Day !
We really don't celebrate Valentines at my house. My husband says it a "fabricated holiday" I am okay with that as he spoils me all year long!
I was curious to see why we celebrate Valentine's anyway, so I googled it.
Seems the day is observed in honor of Saint Valentine of Terni. He was a priest who was supposedly known for secretly performing marriages for Christians & preaching Christianity before it was legal. He was even put under house arrest as he would not renounce his faith. While imprisioned he fell in love with the jailer's daughter & soon restored her sight. Thus, the house converted to Christianity, believing in the power of God. Before the news reached the emperor however, Valentine was executed on February 14th. On the day of his execution , he sent the jailer's daughter a farewell note "From your Valentine". The church made it a Christian festival celebration & they named it St. Valentines Day!
Tragic yet romantic !
Have a great Valentines Day with your Valentine !
