As many of you may recall, Grant Schneider was an extremely active participant on this platform for many years. Sadly, in late January, we lost Grant to cancer. He died peacefully surrounded by his family. You can read his obituary here.
I knew Grant for more than 10 years. He was not in the real estate community, but he was a profoundly respected member of the local business community, a fixture of BNI and networking events, and a voice in whom all that knew him placed great stock.
.
We were introduced when I first joined BNI a long time ago. The chapter that we belonged to was- and remains- a rowdy, high energy chapter that was often almost like a Friars Club in energy and tone. It was decidedly not PG-13 in that room. Any group filled with mostly self employed high achievers blowing off steam and letting their hair down for 90 minutes will be that way. Yet Grant was above all that without making us feel bad for being, well, kind of not altar boys.
I will have lots of memories of Grant and not a single one is less than positive. He was a giver. He was a team player. Grand was remarkably devoid of ego for someone so on the ball. That's the one thing about him that you had to witness in person to appreciate; he listened, he asked questions, he pondered, and he was measured in his thoughts. And those thoughts were always on point and completely absent of self praise or ego. His insights were always on point.
While Grant was very active in networking and producing content here and elsewhere, he was clearly all about family first. I was honored to have him refer me to a family member who sold their property with me under circumstances that weren't cookie cutter. He was a devoted husband, a dearly loved father, and a joyous grandad. You could just tell you were around a guy who was comfortable in his own skin, at peace, and in love with his family.
I know many followed him here and may have wondered where he went when his blogging activities came to a stop last year ( I noticed he scheduled a blog post which was published recently, but that's software for you. It ended up being posthumous) , and I'm here to tell you that his loss is significant to all of us. We'll never see his like again.
Rest in Peace Grant. You made this world a better place, and you set an example we should all aspire to.
