Why?
Well, number one, the cost of entry starts with zero... There is no fee to have a Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, or TikTok account.
Since the Dot Coms decided to get into the real estate business to begin with...It's time time to use the very technology they created to take full control back.
That's right, the cost to get started is zero. The question is, "what does it take to make money with one or more of these digital platforms?"
It does take some skill, and there is a learning curve. If you are pretty quick with the internet, there is still a learning curve. The good news is that anyone that can read and write can learn and actually become a guru in a matter of two to four years. Yes, there is a commitment of time and study to become good. However, no prior experience is required to become a guru!
If you're new to the idea, be wary of the "make a fortune in a week" people. Most of those folks are telling you only part of the story.
The key is to learn as you go is to totally rebuild your real estate business in a way that the consumer is already looking to connect with.
One of the things that happen in those first couple of years is that you will learn a lot, you will make mistakes, and you will rebuild your social pages and funnels, sometimes over and over...
You may get banned or shut off from social media sites without knowing that you've done something wrong. And, the truth is you may not have followed some crazy rule that you didn't even know existed...
The incredible thing is that once you've learned the digital marketing world and how to navigate the different social media networks, every business person you know will want to be your best friend. You will quickly find that your talent is in high demand. You have acquired a valuable job skill without even knowing it. I mean, think about it. Once you've got it down, you have the knowledge to turn on digital cash flow at will. Companies will pay you lots of money to promote their products or to come to work for them.
I have had the opportunity to work with a few guys and gals that started messing around with social media and became gurus in their area of expertise. Different things, from selling products, marketing, writing ad copy, email copy, building funnels, holding seminars, creating evergreen webinars, and more.
Some started in the digital business and ended up in a niche they found and became experts in. These same folks work as freelance marketers for themselves and have opened "digital marketing" companies where they represent or have as clients many of the fortune 500 companies in America.
I did spend some years in the bar and restaurant business and loved it while I was doing it. I raised my family for the first bunch of years in that industry. I then spent 40 years in the real estate business, which has also been good for me. With the advent of the internet, the real estate business is very digital today, especially compared to 20 and 30 years ago.
The truth is that the consumer is very digital today... Hence, the need for the serious real estate companies and professionals to get up to speed.
That said, if I were starting over today, I would do what I decided to do some time ago and go digital. I would learn all I could about the Digital Marketing Business at no cost and get after it.
