We showed an adorable smaller size home to our buyers that they thought would work well for them, except for the lack of a home office.
Nowadays, with the increasing popularity of remote work and online businesses, having a home office has become a must-have feature for many homebuyers. However, like the house we showed our buyers, not all homes come equipped with a dedicated office space. In such cases, it's essential to get creative and think outside the box to find a solution. One such solution we suggested was to repurpose a large closet by the back door into a functional home office.
I showed them a photo of a small cottage we sold a while back and they loved the idea of creating this space in a large closet. The closet had enough space for a desk and chair, and the possibility of some storage options.
Larry suggested that with proper lighting including task and ambient lighting, they could create a comfortable work environment. Purchasing the right size desk and comfortable chair should start the process. Although there would be no room for added décor, with the right organizational tools, shelving and storage options it would feel more inviting and functional. He pointed out that a very important aspect was to declutter and organize the space regularly to maintain a productive workspace. Painting the interior of the closet with a light, neutral color would help brighten the space.
While a closet home office may not be the perfect solution, with a little creativity and ingenuity, it can still be a viable option for those who need a dedicated workspace in their home!
