There There are a great many reason for taking a plunge a purchasing a home and I am sure you can get 10 different reasons from 10 different Realtors. I will not tell you what the best reason for you is however I can tell you greatest benifits home ownership has given me. For starters there is the financial benifits that come from home ownership, in its most basic form you are paying off a home mortgage rather than helping someone else incresase thier wealth. You also will always over the long experience appreciation of your home, I mean that over time your home will gain value as the demand for home ownership grows, sometimes this level of apprecaition can be quite swift and extreme. I worked in Northern California for a few years and that area experienced upwards of 20% appreciation levels for like 4 years so as you can see owning a home can be very profitable. There is also the enormous benifit of the tax advantages (please consult a tax specialist to guage your personal benifit). Taxes paid on the interest of your primary residence are tax exempt, meaning that if you have a $2000 a month house payment that for many years you will be paying at least $1800 or more interest. Lets do some math here $1800month x 12mos= $21600 now lets pretend you are in 33% tax bracket that would mean that you would pay around $7560 less a year in taxes making your monthly mortgage payment in essence around $1370.  Most people never look at the tax advantages of owning a home, and they are great.

Possibly the greatest joy of owning a home is my family. I have a place that my family can call our own, OUR home. A place where my children can grow and build memories. And all the reasons I gave above filter down to family. All of the Financial benifits of owning help to build on your net worth that you can hopefully use build on quality of life, and one day hopefully leave to your children.
