We're not saying that owning or leading a real estate team is the answer to having a successful career. We are saying that teams have proven to make substantial differences to several agents’ careers. The prerequisite… they start with clear expectations, and build a business called a team. Companies who embrace them as an addition to their menu of options for agents are seeing added value.
Leading and owning a successful real estate team requires a lot of work. One thing we believe wholeheartedly, today, It’s easier to build a profitable team than it is to build a profitable brokerage from scratch. The hard money investment and long-term cost commitments demanded in a brokerage can choke the life out of those who had the best intentions.
The person ready to take on the challenge of building a successful team must have the heart, knowledge, and understanding to act in moments of truth. But most importantly this person will need the courage to succeed.
Every business is under constant attack - not just real estate brokerages. It can come from a competitor, a pandemic, the economy, or from within a company’s rank and file. The enemy can be a tradition, a ritual, a change in technology, or maybe a catastrophic event.
The only hedge seems to be based on two footings: innovation and/or improvement. Both require a continuous investment of time, money, redesign, courage, and a change in attitude.
Business opportunities constantly arise when the structure sits on a strong foundation of facts, expectations, discipline, focus, and accountability. This is what separates the winners from everyone else.
