Wordless Wednesday…Wanna Drag?

A few years ago, there were several geese who came for a visit at Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve. They were loud.

It is my understanding that they were later caught and given to a local lady who agreed to give them a new home on her land outside the city.

One day they were all gone, except one. He remained. I’d read that geese mate for life so I wondered if something had happened to Mrs. Goose.

He has become a fixture at Kickerillo…often greeting walkers as they pass the public restrooms. When we arrive and wonder if he is still around, all we have to do is wait a few minutes and we’ll hear that loud familiar honk!

Mr. Goose has free reign of the Preserve and besides being on the water, he also likes to stroll the parking lot.

Doesn’t he look like he’s saying…Wanna drag?

Each species is a masterpiece, a creation assembled with extreme care and genius. E.O. Wilson.

Good morning Kathy. Nature has a way of entertaining you if you have an open mind. Enjoy your day.

Wayne Martin I think that's why we enjoy our walks so much at the Preserve. There's always something to see.

Hello Kathy - I agree with Wayne Martin.  Nature seems to have a way of putting on a performance.  We are fortunate to have many opportunities for a front-row seat.

How adorable that he's there, but sad that his mate is not there with him.

Kat Palmiotti we were worried when he first stayed that he was injured but he does fly. Not sure if he's waiting for a new mate or what.

HI Kathy... what a cute story... I don't know enough about geese and their mating habits, but hopefully he's not too lonely without his partner.

Nina Hollander, Broker he gets a lot of attention at the Preserve. Children love to look at him and everyone has to take a picture.

Joan Cox and this is just one goose. When we had several a few years ago it was kind of annoying.

When I first read your title, I was thinking of a different definition of drag.  I was thinking it was dress up day.  😉

Ray Henson and I see that you took it literally on Brian England's post!

Oh, I am thinking that Sharon Tara can show us what Ray Henson would look like in drag Kathy Streib, haha.

What are you afraid of Brian England.  I am sure Sharon Tara would make you look even better than me.  🤣

I am definitely more in favor of that photo of me Ray Henson than seeing me in drag, haha.  Sharon Tara has permission to put me in a pickleball outfit but not drag, haha.

Brian England

Haha, I hope that Ray Henson will show this to Mary Margaret.  If he doesn't, I will since I am going to save it on my phone, haha.  Great work Sharon Tara and please refrain from any more drag pictures of anyone else.

Sharon Tara is ActiveRain's very own AI system, Kathy Streib.  You never know when and how those AI systems will manifest themselves.  😉 If the system was functioning properly, Brian England would already be sporting a pickleball outfit crushing me on a pickleball court.

LOL, Brian England.  You can't have your cake and eat it, too! ! !

Ray Henson  I hope you appreciate the compromise I came up with for your requests to dress Brian in drag and to place him in a pickleball match.

Mark Don McInnes, Sandpoint-Idaho I agree. The Egyptian geese that were there have left and while there are egrets and herons around, he doesn't seem to hang with them.

Kathy we saw a little segment about a goose on TV.  Her mate died and she wouldn't leave the area.  So a lady decided to run an add for someone that had a male goose that needed a partner.  They've been together ever since.  Really cool story!

We have a large population of Canadian Geese at our local park.  They are both a blessing and a curse.  We don't dare lay a blanket down on the grass for an old time picnic.  No siree. . .Tables only!
