“The world needs strong women. Women who will lift and build others, who will love and be loved. Women who live bravely, both tender and fierce. Women of indomitable will.”
-- Amy Tenney
March is Women's History Month. March 8th is International Women's Day. Today, we celebrate the wisdom of women who have defied inequality and ignored defeat. We all benefit, men and women alike, from the tenacity of these women.
The history of women's impact on society and culture through the centuries has played a major role in shaping our world. Today and this month, let's celebrate their many achievements and applaud their leadership. And that includes not just the women whose names we all recognize, but also those unsung heroines whose names we wouldn't recognize.
I've been fortunate to have had to know and learn from strong and resilient women throughout my life. They have paved the way for me, my generation and future generations of young women to follow. One of my favorite women in history has long been Coco Chanel, who famously said: "A girl should be two things: who and what she wants." I say, amen to that!
“A strong woman loves, forgives, walks away, lets go, tries again, and perseveres… no matter what life throws at her.”
-- Unknown
