“A History of Lowry Air Force Base” exhibit opening March 14 at Aurora History Museum

The Aurora History Museum is pleased to announce the new exhibit “A History of Lowry Air Force Base,” which chronicles the story of Lowry Air Force Base, the people who served there and the importance of the base to Aurora and the surrounding areas. The exhibit will be on display March 14 to July 9 at the museum, 15051 E. Alameda Parkway.

“A History of Lowry Air Force Base” features photographs, documents and a comprehensive chronology of the base. Visitors will learn about the many individuals who contributed to the development of Lowry, from its founding before World War II to its closure in 1994, and discover the unique stories of the people and technology that shaped its storied history. A special opening reception will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at the museum. Enjoy refreshments, meet museum staff and talk with Lowry veterans.

The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is always free. For more information, call 303.739.6660 or visit AuroraMuseum.org.
