How about that!

By
Industry Observer with Retired

I woke very early this morning and much to my surprise, I found my inbox filled with lots of comments from old friends on ActiveRain.

It was an easy guess that someone had re-posted an old blog. That someone, was my friend Margret Rome. So my post “ Through the Years” reflected a little bit about my time with ActiveRain and the many friends I have made here. In the early 80’s long before ActiveRain, one of my favorite songs was sung by Kenny Rogers. “Through the Years”. That songs’ lyrics are a cogent today as it was back when. As we get older, we appreciate some things that at one time didn’t seem as important as it turned out to be. Go to YouTube and listen to the words again. It describes perfectly your experience here in ActiveRain.

I had written a very long post this morning and almost finished when it just vanished. I should have been hitting the  save button every now and then but now I have to re-write it. My first drafts were always better than the second time around because the first draft was always so spontaneous. The second time, you are trying to remember all the clever things you wrote in the first draft. I must be getting old because I can’t remember all the different things I spoke of. Oh well, must not have been too important.

As I was reading the comments and seeing all the wonderful faces of my many friends here in the Rain, it brought back many memories of some amazing conversations we have had over the years.

About the title of this post, “How About That”, it was the first thing that I said out loud as I saw all the comets in my inbox.  This post is running long as I have never been at a loss for words. Word Soup, I call it. For those that like the details, I am usually not lacking,🤭

So, here I am about to go and thank you all for your wonderful comments and re-familiarizing  our friendships.

Thank you again, Margaret Rome for re-posting my post from last year. All my best wishes for continued good health and great real estate success.

Sincerely,

William

William, AR is flled with old memories with all the notifications received today.   I feel the same way as you - first drafts are usually better.

Hello William - if nothing else, this ActiveRain update has shaken the tree.  As one of the results, the comments are falling fast and furious with familiar faces finding their way to the platform.  It's nice to "see".  I hope all is well with all who are checking in - with and without commenting or a post.

William Johnson - It happened to all of us. But what a wake-up call it was for you! Hannah Williams cracked me up because she though she was FEATURED and all those emails were people responding to her post!

Coincidentally, I was thinking of you the other day (before the email blast this morning) and was hoping you'd come back to AR and continue blogging.

As for the emails that arrived this morning, you may want to read the post George Souto wrote for further explanation about what went on behind the scenes on AR.

Please tell me, today is just the beginning for your fresh new blog posts. And, if you are so inclined, it would be great if you could write one, two, or three entries for the March to a Solution|ActiveRain March 2023 Challenge. You have an opportunity to gain 3,000 points! Kathleen Daniels, Probate & Trust Specialist and I are co-hosting.

William- you have been missed!!!  As a result of last night's maintenance on the platform, we're seeing notifications from years ago. The good thing is that because of this, we're getting to ee members who've been absent from the platform. Hope to see you pop in again.

Hi Kathy,

I would not be surprised that it was not intentional, just kidding of course. I figured that Margaret Rome re-posted an old blog. Glad to hear that I wasn't the only one that came back to respond to the e-mail notices. Thank you for your great comments.

Hi Endre, yikes, 3000, now that is a lot to deal with. Not having to work for a living is fun in many ways but it can get to be a bore very quickly. So I try to keep busy. As we get older, time flys, so there is that, lol

Great to hear from you. Hope you are doing well.

Oh, what a delight to see you on ActiveRain. It makes me happy there was a glitch in the system. Getting rid of over 3000 emails yesterday was not fun, but it reminded me of the past and many long-forgotten posts. So very happy that you stopped by and loved the mention. You have been missed! Let's catch up soon.

Hi Margaret,

That was some glitch. It must have taken a long time to get rid of all the e-mails. 2 years of comments. Yikes.

The markets were crazy and now they have slowed down with not a lot of inventory and interest rates still at an uncomfortable level. When I started in real estate the rates were at 12%.
Hope you are doing well and that business has been good. All is good here just puttering around till it gets warm again. Then off to somewhere, haven’t decided as yet.

Stay well and happy.

Sincerely,
William
