You Don't Lose Me When Things Go Wrong
That's right; you don't lose me when things go wrong because there is always some turbulence. You know the old saying, SNAFU. You lose me when you don't handle the hiccup, return the call, blame it on your assistant, and have someone else call to tell me how busy you are.
Yes, it was the end of the month, and that situation happens 12 times a year for everyone, not just lenders. We spoke when the contract came in, and you assured me that you were taking charge, the buyer was well qualified, and you wanted to win my business.
I asked explicitly about closing the week of Thanksgiving, allowing you to have a longer time for closing. You were so confident with how good you were, saying you could complete a loan in a couple of weeks if needed.
You promised -you were going to WOW me.
But you dropped the ball. You made no effort to contact me, to update me, or to let me know about the delays or what was needed.
Moving out of state, my seller jumped through your hoops; We had a contractor out on Thanksgiving Day! How many contractors do you know that would work on this holiday?
And this was a lender-required repair! You missed telling me about it because it was 'on the back' of the appraiser's report! Really?
I occasionally got a text from the buyer's agent saying you were working on it but had no clue, nor could he share any details with me. I had to tell the seller several times daily that we were still waiting. I even had a call from the buyer's relative asking me ( the listing agent) how much money the buyer needed for this transaction.
You don't lose me when things go wrong. You lose me when communication is no longer fluid.
Settlement day came, and we put the house back on the market. It was sold to another buyer within the week. I feel for the first buyer who lost this house.
Did you WOW me, as promised? I think not!
