I'm sure you have heard this say, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." This simple, yet classic statement holds more truth than most give it credit. We all know how challenging life can be so why not seek to make the most of any challenge?
Having survived my fair share of "lemon" moments in life, I have made the conscious decision to make lemonade. But, there really is a method to be able to make lemonade when your life appears to be falling apart.
Here is my recipe for making Life Lemonade:
L - Let the little things go! It is so easy to become bogged down by the minutia in life. If it isn't life-threatening, learn to let it go.
E - Enjoy the ride. This one is way harder to execute. When I was recovering from losing a lung, I was determined to find the lemonade during the long, hospital recovery. I had the night nurse deliver the flowers in my room secretly to those on the floor who didn't have any. It was so rewarding and I looked forward to those long nights.
M - Manage to smile. While you may not feel like you have the energy to smile or maybe you just don't want to smile, you will be amazed at how smiling affects your inner soul as well as those who receive the smile.
O - Offer positive words whenever possible. Speaking words of encouragement hold a vibrational frequency that is healing to those receiving the good words and to your own soul.
N - No negativity! Do whatever it takes to remove the negative self-talk from your life. Don't allow it. Find an accountability partner to help you refrain from this damaging practice.
S - Support others. When you take the focus off of your own life and support others, it is amazing how your own troubles become less important. A refocus from self and a sincere focus on another person is very empowering.
So, who is ready to make some LIFE LEMONADE? Life is too short to stay a sour puss! Pucker up, buttercups, and make it a great day!
