Sometimes It's A Real Yawner

Sometimes you just can't stop yawning. I don't remember the last time I had a "yawn feast" but there have been times.

I do remember when I yawned and dosed off the most... school! I never have been much for institutional education. That includes Real Estate continuing education. If CE wasn't mandatory to renew one's license I would have no part of it... BORING!

That being said, there is a huge difference between institutional education and "real life" education. That is why I am here at Active Rain. Never a dull moment and so much good stuff to learn. Thank you all for the education 😊.

Good morning, Bob... fortunately, we have a terrific CE instructor in North Carolina who is so bright and funny, there's no way you'd fall asleep in one of his classes. That's usually how I feel about on-line classes... the quickest way for me to start falling asleep is to put me in front of a computer to "learn."

Bob - I am with you - I sign up for the online classes to get through them but don't enjoy them.  Other classes are great - and your cartoon did make me yawn!

Amen Nina Hollander, Broker . Regretfully in a rural State like North Dakota we have very few opportunities to attend in person classes, especially in our own town. In Minot, a city of about 50,000 we were lucky to have one class a year. That is far less then what is necessary to retain your license.

I will let my son know Lise Howe that his cartoon had the intended effect. In North Dakota we rely on on-line classes for CE. I always looked for the unusual to help me get through it but there is always a mandatory course and they were often the most boring.

Bob "RealMan" Timm - the reason why the Professional Development Committee in TX opened up on-line classes was for the reasons you and others who don't have the ability to travel long distance can still attend classes. I have been serving on the State's PDC since 2010. 

What has transpired are the number of agents who take on-line classes even when classes offered are close. I cannot learn watching on-line education. My screen is small and I easily feel sleepy and distracted by what is going on in those little squares. I love pets and kids, but cats don't need to walk in front of a person's screen. Kids don't need to barge in to scream and cry to their parent or guardian while class is in session. That's my two cents.

Thank you Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP . It really can be difficult to schedule a time in the house to not be distracted. I often went to the library and used a study room to participate in on-line classes.

Hello Bob - a good yawn can be therapeutic.  And maybe a yawn could be enhanced when experienced on a lawn.  Location can make a difference.  And that's a lesson we learn in real estate as well as in so many other places.

That is one of my favorite things Michael Jacobs , a nap in a good hammock. Once summer finally hits ND (late May) we usually have a month with no biting insects and that makes a nap in the hammock very blissful.

I agree Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543 . 12 years of education and very, very little of it prepared me for being a Realtor or a Notary Public... or husband, or father etc, etc, etc,.

I had a whole lot of trouble staying awake in school from grade 1 on Will Hamm . My sister says I was Ritalin but if I was I sure was not aware of it.
