It's Showtime for College Basketball and Connecticut is Ready
It is almost impossible for anybody to not know what the term March Madness means. If you don't know, then it is the zaniness and the competition of the best in men's and women's basketball competing over 4 weeks to determine the National Champion.
The games start tonight in Las Vegas for the men, and on Friday the start for the women in Seattle. These dates are for the UConn men and women. All are competing in a win or go home to see who will play for the National Championship next weekend.
This year among the 16 teams on each side, there are 4 college that can boast of having their men's and women's teams still competing. They are Miami, FL, Tennessee, UCLA and UConn.
This has been done only 2 times in the sport. In 1984 Division II school U Central Missouri was the first to do it.
In 2004, the UConn men and women were the first to do it for Division I schools, which are larger.
The UConn women have dominated the sport for years with 29 visits to the tournament, 14 times in the Final Four and 11 National titles.
For the UConn men, their first title was 2004 and they have added 3 others since.
I fly 2 flags on the front of my house and have for years. There is no question that I will be cheering for my Alma Mater tonight and for the rest of the month, hopefully.
Go Huskies
