Beer Recommendation: Flying Dog Bloodline Blood Orange IPA
Chef Dolores prepared chicken salad sandwiches for our lunch at home. One of her ingredients was a a navel orange. So, my beverage selection was the Flying Dog Bloodline Blood Orange IPA and it was a good choice. Drink responsibly. 8% Alc. by Vol. Click on the link to reach the website. Flying Dog Brewery in Frederick, Maryland is one of our favorites.
Bloodline defies genre: Hops for the hop-heads. Fruit for the rest. This is the beer you buy to convert the guy who “doesn’t really like IPAs.” Sweet blood orange puree is added toward the end of fermentation to balance the citrusy sharpness of the hops and deliver a hard-charging ABV to keep the good times rolling.
The navel orange actually grows a second “twin” fruit opposite its stem. The second fruit remains underdeveloped, but from the outside, it resembles a human navel—hence the name. Navels are part of the winter citrus family. They're seedless, peel easily, and are thought to be one of the world's best-tasting oranges.
