You are absolutely right about knowledge being power.  For several years I worked at a software development company with folks from all over the globe.  Some were refugees from war torn places like Bosnia, etc.  I remember one 19 year old girl that came to work at our company.  She was a brilliant programmer.  She had landed in this country a few months prior with only a small amount of cash in her pockets.  Her parents had been killed in the war.  She didn't have much, but she had a good education.  A few years went buy, she married another refugee.  I sold them a wonderful home near the company.  They thrived. All because of knowledge and education.
