The Paws In The Park event will include a blessing of the animals, live music, food trucks, dog contests, photo booths, and more.

Pineville Paws In The Park 2023

Charlotte Black Dogs is a 501c3 working with rescue groups and animal shelters to promote adoptions and bring awareness to Black Dog Syndrome. Did you know:

  • Black dogs in shelter and rescue situations often take significantly longer to be adopted than dogs with lighter colored coats?

  • Black dogs are often the last to be adopted and the first to be euthanized?

  • Black dogs are often portrayed as aggressive and dangerous in popular culture and media?

  • People are less comfortable around black dogs because their expressions are harder to read?

WHAT'S THE PINEVILLE, NC LIFESTYLE ALL ABOUT?

Pineville, NC LogoPineville's Paws In The Park is just one of numerous Pineville festivals that take place each year. If you've never been to historic, downtown Pineville, North Carolina this maybe a great time to check it out. Pineville was ranked #1 in Movoto’s list of top 10 cities in the Charlotte area for young professionals to live in, based on Pineville's amenities, which include affordable homes and condos; the charm of quaint neighborhoods and its historic downtown; a plethora of convenient shopping options; local restaurants and bars; as well as live music and movies at Lake Park.

Main Street In Historic Pineville, NCPineville was also named the Best Place in North Carolina To Start A Small Business by NerdWallet in 2015.

Another of Pineville's claims to fame is that it was the birthplace of our 11th President, James K Polk.

Not to be overlooked is Pineville's central location with easy access to I-485 and I-77. Pineville is virtually adjacent to Charlotte's Ballantyne area and minutes from the South Park area... easy commuting to Ballantyne Corporate Park and to the South Park corporate parks. Living in Pineville also provides easy access to the Lynx Train Line... great for commuting to Uptown Charlotte. And as Pineville also borders Fort Mill, South Carolina, it's easy commuting to Fort Mill, as well.

WOW!  Like others, I have never heard of black dog syndrome.  I did have a black dog many decades ago.  We called him Diamond because he had a white diamond patch between his eyes.  He was a "ladies' man," if you know what I mean.  He escaped our backyard many times and made many litters.  He was not popular with the neighbors.  My kids loved him.

Kat Palmiotti hi Kat... obviously, since you have a black dog, you don't suffer from Black Dog syndrome. I had an all black dog many years ago who looked like a black Siberian Huskie. People were always asking what breed he was.

Dorie Dillard Austin TX hi Dorie... I became aware of Black Dog Syndrome through this annual event in Pineville. Sadly there's also black cat syndrome.

Brian England hi Brian... for some reason people hesitate to adopt both black dogs and black cats. Never understood why. One of my best dogs was a black mix, who looked like a black Siberian huskie. He was gorgeous (and sweet).

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® hi Sheri... Diamond sounds like a character! I had a cat like that once (in reverse, as she kept getting pregnant). It's so sad that both black dogs and cats are so discriminated against.

Hi Nina- I did not know about Black Dog Syndrome. Thinking back, all of my dogs have been white, except for two...one was a black schnauzer and the other was a brown dachshund.

Kathy Streib good morning, Kathy. I love how the Charlotte Black Dog organization is bringing new awareness to Black Dog Syndrome. I was aware that black cats were hard to adopt out, but until I knew more about Charlotte Black Dog, I hadn't realized it was also an issue with dogs.
