You know Spring has sprung when you start seeing these signs and bumper stickers springing up.

Here's a good checklist

In Massachusetts, Motorcycle Safety Awareness Period is from March 25th through April 30th.  Sunday was the kickoff fundraiser for the Nelson Family Ride hosted by the Manchester-by-the-Sea American Legion Post 113 and Legion Riders Chapter 113. 

Last evening before the Board of Selectmen's meeting we held a presentation at the Public Safety Building.

Please be aware of motorcycles. Always CHECK TWICE. Motorcycle fatalities are down in MA mostly through the efforts of the Motorcycle Safety Awareness organization.

Good reminder, Doug.
I remember taking the motorcycle safety class before I got my license. The instructor said if we only remember one thing, this is it:
"Ride as though you are invisible to other drivers."
Sadly, a lot of motorcycles do seem to come out of nowhere.

What a great post and an excellent reminder to look around before making any sort of maneuver. when driving a car. Those noisy bikes can be annoying, but at least you do hear them and know they are somewhere close by.

Hi Doug - share the road!   It is hard to see them sometimes unless they're weaving in and out of traffic but we have to learn to be alert and watch out for them.

Doug Dawes - This is a good post to raise awareness. 

Everything I needed to learn about motorcycles I learned from my spouse after we got married and after I had my driver's license. He had a motorcylce and while he drove his motorcycle, I had to follow him with the car and keep my distance and watch his signals. Then, when we got home he told me what I did right and what I did wrong. To this day, I keep my distance from all motorcycle drivers and pay attention.
