A year ago I wrote about caring for a senior pet. I had already been doing it for a year and a half at that point.
I'm heartbroken to say, I am no longer doing it. Corrie passed away last week.
Corrie was older at 8.5 years when she came to live with us, a gorgeous retired grand champion show dog. She was also bilingual, which drew the attention of many neighbors who heard me talking to her in Spanish. I took it in school. It's not great, but Corrie understood just the same. At least she pretended to.
She was a retired grand champion and remained a princess here.
Corrie came at a time when we really needed her. We had just lost Buttons and were all very depressed. She saved us, and did her job well. She jumped right and became part of the family. All of a sudden, things seemed to be back to normal.
As long as she had food - any kind - bully sticks and walks - Corrie was a happy camper. And toys, lots of toys.
She showed tremendous strength considering all her illnesses. Unbelievably so.
Each of our dogs teaches us something. It was no different with Corrie. She was a very special dog.
And now we're sad again, especially her little sister. We miss Corrie terribly. The cycle of life.
RIP my beautiful Corrie. Fly free with the other paps at the Rainbow Bridge.
I love you.
