Wordless Wednesday…They Have Arrived

 

Larry and I love this time of year because we become volunteer caretakers of the birds near us. 

We’ve had 3 bluebirds fledge into their new world just last week. 


 

This weekend we had the Carolina Chickadee babies hatch (they became our new tenants in the former Bluebird  house in our backyard) 

 

And yesterday, 4 Bluebird chicks hatched at Kickerillo Misher. (we keep hoping that the 5th egg will hatch) 

 

 

Sadly, the 3 cardinal eggs that were in a nest outside my office window disappeared when we checked on them Sunday. Because there was no damage to the nest and we couldn’t find any eggshells, we’re thinking a snake (I hate snakes) may have gotten them.

Kathy Streib  Yes we have Robin's redbreasts. Not that many Bluebirds when I see them I get very excited. You are so lucky that these birds nest every year!

This is so fun that you post the bird stories Kathy!  I haven't seen any nests lately but that doesn't mean they're not out there.  I can hear little ones chirping but Momma And Daddy found  a safe place for them to grow.

Hi Kathy,

Your pics and videos are amazing.  To me,  this is what spring is all about.  We have had nests in our trees, and when an egg or hatchling falls to the ground, it saddens me.  I did see a snake slither up a tree in search of one of the nests, but I knocked it down and relocated it behind our house.  No further problems.
