Zoom Call 4.11.23 Monica Hess Feng Shui
Monica Hess explained that she has been doing Feng Shui for years and essentially got started when she read a statement by Martha Stewart that if you wanted good luck, paint our front door red. As she thought about that, she honestly felt that it was just stupid and that caused her to research the art and she has been doing it ever since, for over 20 years.
Feng Shui's meaning can be broken down into the Chinese words 'Feng" meaning wind, and "shui", meaning water. The concept is derived from an ancient poem that talks about human life being connected to and flowing with the environment around it.
Feng shui is a practice of arranging the pieces in living spaces to create balance with the natural world. This is what it means to feng shui your home. The goal is to harness energy forces and establish harmony between an individual and their environment.
She researched and joined groups to learn about the art and after getting frustrated with the lack of proper information, she found the master, Joseph Yu, and really got involved.
When it started, the Feng Shui masters noticed that some people prospered while others did not, and they looked into the reasons why and ultimately developed what they called the armchair feng shui. It starts with location, just like real estate.
It starts with a chart and the chart is composed with the details of when the house was built; the location it faces, compass points, and then the chart defines what energy is in the house, based on the energy star. Each year, the star changes and one must know how to fix that energy or else it will turn into a bad year.
During the call, she offered up the book, Feng Shui for dummies as a way to learn more and to get started.
Buyers will feel good about a house, and they may well be feeling the positive energy flowing to them. She noted that Asian buyers are the most influenced by the art and if it doesn't feel right to them, they just move on with no insights offered as to why they don't like a particular house.
She defined some of the no's for Asians as a t-intersect; a house number with 444 as that means death; a house with no back, i.e. a cliff or drop off.
She was asked about energy of a house and if it was real. To describe this, she talked about a house that she was asked to visit as it had been on the market an excessively long time with little activity. She arranged to visit the house and the agent, knowing she had been an agent, told her where to find the key. As she entered the house, it literally spoke to her, and it was: 'It's about time you got here." In spite of all that was wrong with the house, she bought it. She believes the house speaks to you and one needs to know what you are looking for.
She was asked about strong negative forces that can literally push you out of a house. She defines this as demonic and is able to do a clearing remotely, which can be necessary as it is possible to carry negative energy out of the house and bring it back to a home or office.
She describes a couple of situations where one can feel the energy. A school yard is a high energy place, and a cemetery is a low energy place. By closing one's eyes at either, one can feel the different energy and it makes a difference if you were to live near either.
A positive way to give a house good energy is with something that offers a metallic sound such as wind chimes or a chime clock. In the case of a chime clock, it needs to be positioned so that it can be heard throughout the house.
In temples, they use singing bowls as they are very positive energy signals.
A question was asked as to why all that entered a particular house felt the need to hit a wall that was behind a fireplace, as the wall was too close to the front door, it was suggested that a mirror on that wall would reflect the front door which would give positive energy.
Monica felt that the most positive way to keep positive energy within a house is with a chime clock and depending on the size of the house several may be needed so that all areas of the house can hear the chimes every 15 mins.
As water is also a high energy source she recommended that the feng shui be determined if there is a pool on premises, or if one is going to put in a pool.
For a house that is not getting high activity, she suggested that a bowl of water be placed inside in the northwest corner of the house to generate activity. It is a high energy sign.
It was a lively call and many questions were asked and explained. Monica Hess was very active and informative and offered to answer questions if one reached out to her.
