Cleaning Appliances - It Doesn't Have To Be Horrible

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Greenville Upstate

Cleaning appliances can be a daunting task, especially if you're as lazy as I am. But fear not, my fellow sloths, for I have discovered the secrets to making your kitchen look spick and span without breaking a sweat (or a nail).

First up, let's tackle the oven. The oven is like the black hole of your kitchen, constantly devouring any and all spills and stains that dare to cross its path. But fear not, for we have the power of baking soda on our side! Simply mix some baking soda with water to create a paste, spread it all over the inside of the oven, and let it sit for a few hours (or overnight, if you're feeling particularly lazy). Then, wipe away the paste with a damp cloth and voila! Your oven will be as good as new. And hey, if you're feeling adventurous, you could even stick your head in there and pretend you're in a sauna. Just don't turn it on, okay?

Next up, the fridge. Now, I don't know about you, but my fridge is always filled with mystery stains and expired condiments. But fear not, for we have the power of vinegar on our side! Simply mix some white vinegar with water in a spray bottle, and use it to clean the inside of your fridge. The vinegar will help kill any bacteria and get rid of any lingering odors. And hey, if you're feeling extra fancy, you could even organize your fridge by color or alphabetically. Just don't forget to throw out that moldy cheese from 2017.

And finally, the dishwasher. Ah, the dishwasher. The one appliance that's supposed to make our lives easier, but somehow always ends up making things more complicated. But fear not, for we have the power of...wait for it...lemonade mix on our side! Yes, you read that right. Simply sprinkle some lemonade mix (the powder kind, not the liquid kind) into the dishwasher and run it on a hot cycle. The citric acid in the lemonade mix will help break down any gunk or buildup in your dishwasher, leaving it clean and fresh. And hey, if you're feeling extra adventurous, you could even try washing your dishes by hand for once. Just be warned, it's a slippery slope.

So there you have it, folks. The lazy person's guide to cleaning appliances. Just remember, a clean kitchen is a happy kitchen. And if all else fails, just order takeout and pretend like you never saw those stains in the first place.

The lemonade trick is a new one to me.  I am going to have to give it a shot.  Thanks for slothful tips!  I love it.

Bill, I rarely use my oven, so it is still pristine, but the refrigerator needs some attention every week.

Very interesting tips. I found that even when I clean the inside of my oven (using the oven cleaning cycle) the door is not cleaned. You can use one of those dishwasher soap squares (the crumbly kind). Wet that and use it to scrub the glass. It comes out great!

I need to use the vinegar solutions more! I don't like the smell of a lot of the cleaning fluids.

Well hi Bill Kennedy I'm so  glad Kathy Streib featured your post!  You are a funny guy!  And it just so happens I'm cleaning my gas stove this morning.  But all I have to do is set it on the clean cycle and a few hours later it's perfect1  One and done, my kind of cleaning!
