During a stroll around Laurel's historic district recently, a few of the homes caught my eye but especially 420 Main Street with its stone work along the front porch, lanterns and trim work, and that fabulous window with some stained glass detail.
420 Main Street is a center hall colonial built in 1870. It is zoned for mixed use, allowing for an owner occupant to operate a business in the same building. Originally, it was the pharmacy (said to be the only one between Washington, D.C. and Baltimore after the Civil War) and home of Dr. Sadler.
Laurel's historic district is not nearly as popular as others in Maryland but is definitely worth a visit - especially if you love charming old homes as much as I do. The Laurel Board of Trade sponsors an annual Main Street Festival, or you can take a virtual walking tour of Laurel's historic sites here.
♥ It's always been the vintage, the old house charm, and the original details that I adore the most, that draw me in, make my [REALTOR®] heart flutter, and prompt me to pause, to listen, and then to retell their stories. I specialize in finding and marketing charming homes that are unique and rich in character, history, or both. I believe in preservation, second chances, saving the pink bathrooms, and front porch living. In this series, I highlight charming homes that I am listing to find just the right buyer for or that I am admiring with my special clients; or that have simply caught my eye while exploring the [historic] communities of Maryland and [far] beyond. Adore charming homes as much as I do? Then I'd love it if you'd follow me on Instagram, @onceuponahaus is where I grow my curated collection. ♥
