In the race for sustainability, Warwick, NY might have it in the bag.
In the past year alone, the town has become one of the first in Orange County to propose powering Town Hall with solar panels. We also had a town hall meeting on global warming. But here's the best part; In a community of 33,000 residents, the community can count themselves as one of the most aggressive in the battle to cut down the use of plastic bags. Officials from ShopRite's NJ headquarters said that last week the Warwick store sold more re-useable shopping bags on average than any of their 26 other stores in the Hudson Valley. Our town will also be home to the county's first "sustainable" shopping center, as Price Chopper prepares to break ground on a 56,000 sq. ft. green building.
Going Green is not easy, but it certainly is worth it!
