What is the best way for a new REALTOR® to find leads?

Real Estate Agent with Hollish Hill Group, JPAR Stellar Living

Many people are talking about AI, and to be honest, I'm a little nervous about how this whole thing will play out.

The other day my husband told me that NASA has lost the ability to build the huge old rockets that were used in the past. They have to build new ones in stages like SpaceX is doing. I'm wondering if this Is because kids rely on calculators and no longer do calculations by hand or use slide rules like they did in our race to the moon. (I'm way to young, but I've seen slide rules in space movies)

Let's be honest with ourselves. Are kids really going to write papers if ChatGPT can do it for them?

The Real Question is will REALTORS® spend time writing content if AI will do it for us?

So, to take AI on a test run, I asked ChatGPT to tell me:

What is the best way for a new REALTOR® to find leads?

This is what ChatGPT answered:

As a new REALTOR, finding leads is critical to your success in the industry. Here are some effective ways to generate leads:

  1. Build a professional network: Establishing relationships with other professionals in the industry, such as lenders, appraisers, and title agents, can help you generate referrals and build your client base.
  2. Leverage social media: Create a professional social media presence and use it to promote your services, share relevant content, and engage with potential clients. Consider running social media ads to reach a wider audience.
  3. Host open houses: Hosting open houses is a great way to meet potential buyers and sellers and showcase your expertise.
  4. Attend networking events: Attend local events and community gatherings to meet new people and build your network.
  5. Create targeted marketing campaigns: Use targeted marketing campaigns, such as direct mail or email marketing, to reach potential clients in specific neighborhoods or demographics.
  6. Offer valuable content: Create valuable content, such as blog posts, videos, or webinars, that provides helpful information to potential clients and establishes you as a knowledgeable expert in the industry.
  7. Partner with other businesses: Partner with local businesses, such as moving companies or home improvement stores, to offer special promotions or referral programs.

Remember that building a successful real estate business takes time and effort, and generating leads is an ongoing process. Focus on building relationships, providing value to your clients, and establishing yourself as a trusted expert in the industry.

So, what do you think of ChatGPT's response. Pretty good answer for a tool. If only actually doing these 7 things was as easy as generating this content.

Let me know if you have had a chance to try ChatGPT and if you will be using it again in the future.

Dana albeit the tips are good - the writing itself lacks 'YOUR' personality and voice.  It sounds canned because it is.

Anna - Thank y0u for noticing. I'm glad to hear that my writing style has more personality than a bot. There may be hope for us yet!

It seems pretty accurate, even if it's a bit robotic. I wonder how many answers it gets wrong.

Hi Dana Hollish Hill Looks about Right, although I could add more like being consistent reaching out to friends, past co workers, school friends, new and past clients just for a few starters , Good Plan from Ai but better to meet and  talk with Experienced Realtors in your office ad maybe ask to be mentored...Thanks for sharing you Ai Test

Apr 23, 2023 06:21 PM
Dana Hollish Hill

Absolutely! Setting goals, being consistent, practicing scripts and having accountability are very important. And a coach or mentor can help with the things you didn't learn studying for the license exam and setting up systems.

I thought the same as Anna Banana Kruchten Phoenix Broker - while there is nothing wrong with the suggestions, it was boring and has no personality. I've played a little with ChatGPT and so far have been underwhelmed.

Apr 24, 2023 04:57 AM
Dana Hollish Hill

Yeah. ChatGPT is a little bit D on the DISC, but without the personality.

On a separate note, I had to chuckle about your comment on slide rules. Way back when - in junior high -  I was miserably bad in algebra. My dad was an engineer. He whipped out his handy slide rule and . . . used it to help me understand algebra.

I think I fell off the chair backward in a confused stupor. He never tried that again.

My husband was going to get one for our daughters, but I think they would have had the same reaction that you did.

Interesting answer.  It seems like it should all have to be credited just like borrowing information from a book or an online source.  I also like what Anna Banana Kruchten Phoenix Broker had to say.  There is no character to the writing.

I can see myself using it as a source, but not to replace my writing.

Apr 24, 2023 02:45 PM
Dana Hollish Hill

Ray - You are so right. I had not thought about crediting the source, but that makes sense and I wonder where ChatGPT gets it's information.

I like how you refer to ChatGPT as "him".  I was using "it", but now I'm not sure which to use.
