Love Is In The Air in Prospect CT  Wordless Wednesday

While sitting and working at my window spot, I noticed movement on the front lawn. I tried to focus on what it was and was pleasantly shocked to see some new wildlife make a visit.

Love Is In The Air  Wordless Wednesday

I caught this tom just before it dropped down to the neighbor's yard, and sat ad waited as I saw a couple others down there as well. There were 2 males and when they thought she was looking, they would spread their wings and tail feathers and make their calls to try and entice the one hen.

They danced on that lawn for a while, and she seemed to be nonplussed by their actions. As couple of cars passed on the road and she waked across but not alone.

She managed to stay away from both toms, and out of courtesy, I didn't follow them into the woods where she may have made her choice.

You captured some great shots!  If you had followed them into the woods, the post might have been censored, haha.

Haha, this is the time of the year for mating! Apparently the female(s) won't respond if they're already impregnated or are not ready yet. We had a tom chasing three females and they all ignored him. I thought it was funny.

Isn't it great when we can take time to watch wildlife right in front of us? Nice pictures.

You captured such great photos Ed. We had 7 of them last November (right around Thanksgiving time) land in our backyard, and just as soon as they landed...they were off again!

Ed, that would be fun to watch, and how cute.   We don't usually see wild turkeys here, but did while driving through Castle Pine one day.

I love this story Ed Silva as we also have a lot of turkeys here in the City limits of Minot. I don't believe I have seen one in our yard but there are enough around that they often stop traffic.

How fortunate you were able to watch and grab some photos of this courting behavior. Nothing like some male competition!

We have several groups of Wild Turkeys in my neighborhood, Ed.  They take their time strolling across the streets.  They don't scare easily.
