NAR Gets Active Opposing the LLPA's
In the Zoom call last week, John Meussner encouraged all to get active in the push to get the LLPA's modified or repealed completely. His closing arguments were for all to let our local Congressman know the dissatisfaction with the LLPA's as well as reaching out to NAR to also get involved.
As if on cue, the most recent publication from NAR, headlines the challenge of LLPA's and what they are doing to get attention to its unfairness to middle class borrowers.
Briefly, an LLPA, Loan Level Pricing Adjustment is a poor attempt to lower the cost of a loan for people with less than perfect credit. It strives to subsidize loans for weaker borrowers by putting a levy on borrowers with exemplary credit.
The reality is that weak borrowers will most likely be denied a mortgage due to their inability to properly manage their credit, and people with good credit will still be penalized.
The full article from NAR can be read as NAR is making the REALTOR® voice heard on LLPA's.
They will also be pushing for change at the Realtor Block Party tomorrow in Washington DC.
This is a big fight and one in which all can participate by letting legislators know they need to repeal this tax on loans.
