Vanya and his niece Sonya struggle to care for the country estate visited by Vanya’s brother-in-law, a wealthy and celebrated professor. When this local legend returns with his much younger second wife, hidden passions explode and the lives of the entire family come undone. Uncle Vanya by Anton Chekhov, one of the world’s greatest playwrights, was first produced in 1899. Although this tragicomedy belongs to a different time and a different place, like all great plays it is timeless.
