Canton MI is a great place to live whether you are a single, young, old, married, with or without kids.  The township is always putting together great thing to do in Canton.   Here are some of the upcoming events in Canton Township, Michigan.

3rd Annual Cherry Festival - July 26 :

Canton Area residents are in for a treat at the 3rd Annual Cherry Festival on Saturday, July 26, when Cherry Hill Village will overflow with arts, entertainment, and great family fun. Stroll through local businesses, the Village Theater, and Canton's Historic sites, all while enjoying delicious festival food, live entertainment, Old Tyme Farms Days, crafts and activities for the whole family and more cherry goodies than your eyes can believe.

Don't miss the Cherry Sweet Treats & Dessert Bake-Off during the festival. Pull out your favorite cherry recipe and start baking for your chance to be named Top Confectioner! Dishes can be submitted at the Cherry Hill School from 12-1:30pm on Saturday. Judging will be done during the Cherry Festival, and the winner will be presented with a fabulous prize pack! Bake-off rules include:

1. All entries must be desserts. Breads will qualify only if they are dessert breads.
2. All entries must be homemade. Non-homemade items (pie shells, ice cream, etc) may be used only if they are incorporated into the main homemade item.
3. There is no limit to the number of entries per team, or per person.
4. Each entry must be accompanied with the recipe.

Pre-registration is not required. All entries must be submitted at the Cherry Hill School between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 26. Entries submitted after 3 p.m. will not be accepted.

Dishes will be judged on the following criteria:
a. Use of Cherries as an ingredient
b. General appearance
c. Overall taste

The winner, along with their winning recipe, will be announced in the August edition of the Focus Newsletter

The Annual Canton Family Camp-Out:

Friday, July 11 through Saturday, July 12 at 12 p.m.
Fee: $10/Tent - includes activities.

This family tradition continues, sponsored by Telcom Credit Union, with a Movie Night featuring "Surf's Up!" Families are invited to set up tents around the amphitheater on Friday starting at noon and enjoy the movie at dusk. There will be plenty to do before the movie. Activities will begin at 6 p.m., including: a climbing wall, inflatable attractions, entertainment and even a night hike - bring your GPS if you own one! This popular activity is limited to tents only, NO trailers or mobile homes, please.

Hot dogs, candy and refreshments will also be available for purchase. In case of severe inclement weather, the movie will be shown that evening in the Summit Gymnasium.

Join us for the Annual Family Camp-Out, sponsored by Telcom Credit Union, and wake up to the birds chirping in Canton's Heritage Park. Telcom Credit Union's Canton Branch, located at 44300 Warren Road, invites the community to join and ask about their unique Soccer Savings account that helps kids save for the future.

The camping fee of $10 per tent, which includes wristbands that are required for all activities, must be paid on site the day of the event. If you would like to take part in the activities and movie, but are not interested in camping-out, wristbands will be on sale for $3 per participant. Please call 734/394-5460 for details.


Canton Farmers Market Every Sunday At the Bartlett-Travis House:

The Canton Farmers Market's second season is currently underway every Sunday at the historic Bartlett-Travis House, located at 500 N. Ridge Road. The market will be held now through October 26 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., rain or shine. Stop by to pick up fresh produce, baked goods, plants, crafts, and much more from over a dozen vendors.

Produce currently available, includes:
-strawberries
-raspberries
-lettuce
-onions
-cabbage
