What Floats Your Boat?

Timmothy's cartoon triggered a very old memory buried deep in my mind. My Grandfather on the Timm side was a handyman. He died when I was just six years old so my only first hand memory of him was a wooden boat he made for me. It was crude and looked something like this:

Grandpa's boat was not as fancy, just blocks and paint.

My Real Estate tie in is for 1st time home buyers. Make sure your Realtor knows what floats your boat when it comes to purchasing a new home. Put it in print! Even if it's crude (simple) as 3 bedrooms, at least one garage stall, no less than 1,000 sq feet.

Give your Real Estate agent something to go on. If you are a detail person you may also let them know what does NOT float your boat. No mass murders in the house, not in a well known meth neighborhood, etc.

Good advice, Bob. By the same token, I believe it's up to the real estate agent to draw out that information and more during a preliminary consultation.

Good afternoon Bob,

I like your analogy. That first consultation with a buyer is so important to get all their wants, needs, desires and particulars down!! It makes it so much easier to fine the right home!

Yes, we do need to find out what someone is looking for - sometimes they know right away and sometimes it takes a bit of additional investigation to figure it out!

Their logic seems sound to me, so I hope that he will make them a boat and relive those good memories with them!

I think that was a lovely boat - much better than I or most of us here would be able to do!

So true Dorie Dillard Austin TX and I highly encourage new agents to use a legal pad and write things down. If we ask and don't make a record of the answers we forget.

That is right Kat Palmiotti , especially once they look at a few homes. Those who do NOT get a pre-approval before visiting with us may have a whole new view once they have.

It is good logic Brian England . It is always good to find ways to build new good time memories.

I did treasure that boat Lise Howe BUT unfortunately for my siblings and I our mother was a declutterer to the extreme. If we didn't use it for a month or so it went into the trash. None of us have any school projects either as once they were displayed for a short time they also went in the trash.
