This Week…Celebrating Armed Forces Day
Today is Armed Forces Day…the day we honor and celebrate those currently serving in our military.
It doesn’t take a hero to order men into battle. It takes a hero to be one of those men who goes into battle.
General Norman Schwarzkopf
Go ahead and fire up the grill and break out the flag for this special day.
It can get confusing because we all want to do what’s right to honor military personnel.
Word to the Nation: Guard zealously your right to serve in the armed forces, for without them, there will be no other rights to guard.
President John F. Kennedy
So Armed Forces Day honors anyone who is currently serving.
Veterans Day recognizes all those who have served in any capacity in our military.
The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.
G.K. Chesterton
And finally, a more somber day, Memorial Day, pays tribute to those who have “fallen in battle or in the line of duty while serving our country.”
You will never do anything in this world without courage. It is the greatest quality of the mind next to honor.
Aristotle
If you know someone who is currently serving in our military, please take time to let them know how much you appreciate what they do. Whether they are overseas, serving here at home…in a battle zone area or on a ship…in an office, or inside a jet…they are making a sacrifice for us and our country.
Have a wonderful weekend and to those serving our country… Thank you!!
