What are you grateful for in your life? How do you express your gratitude, and how often do you say it?
One of the things that I constantly remind myself about, is to be very aware of the good things in my life. I have noticed how seldom we speak of the positive things in our lives compared to how often we speak of the negative things in our lives.
If we want to change our focus to the positive things in our life we must make a conscious effort to do so. I find it is something that we must work on every day.
Start with a daily gratitude list of 100 things that you are grateful for and consider positive in your life. When was the last time you were thankful for the fact that we have electricity? Or you can see? Or you can walk? Or your loved one? See what I mean?
Then focus on these things and notice how good you feel. It takes time and it takes discipline but I have found it a precious exercise.
If you question the above, notice how many times someone in your life has been kind and wonderful to you for years and then they did one thing that you did not like. Notice how quickly you fixated on that unhappy action and forgot all the positive actions.
Notice how many people you told about what they did to you and notice how few people you told about all the excellent, good, and caring things they did for you and all the ways they enhanced your life. Is it not true that 100 good deeds can be wiped out by 1 bad deed?
Is it not true that you did not feel good while all this was taking place? So, I ask you is it not worth working on that part of your brain that drives you down the path to negativity?
